Stairnose

[HI Res] [Low Res]

Description

The flush-mount stairnose, or "step down" as it is sometimes referred to; transitions different elevations of floorcovering where the floors are separated by a vertical transition.  The pleasing visual effect created by using this transition gives the illusion of the wood floorcovering overhanging the lower level.  A great example of this is at the top of a staircase.  This stairnose allows a clean transition and simulates an installed stairtread on the top landing.  The stairnose is also useful in landings and sunken rooms where there is wood floorcovering installed on the higher elevation.  The flush-mount stairnose is also referred to as a step-down, step-nose, nosing, or landing tread, especially in the 5" wide version.

  • The finish has added UV inhibitors to reduce the effects of ambering.

  • Moulding Solutions uses only environmentally friendly, VOC compliant finishes. Our high solids, high build finishes are machine applied and quick cured through various methods including chemical reaction and energy based methods.  The result is an even coat along the entire length of the product.  Our finishes have an added UV absorber to prolong the life of the finish and resist ambering, or "yellowing" of the product from age.  The resulting product will last for years to come.

Installation

  • Proper installation is detailed in the image at the top of this page

  • Be sure the lip covers the tongue of the flooring only - do not install the top lip over the floorcovering

  • The stairnose must be installed so the flat section on the rear underside of the piece is resting squarely against the vertical transition or riser

  • Only the "bullnose" portion of the stairnose should overhang and be visible from the next lowest elevation
